A family legacy built on craftsmanship, integrity, and more than 80 years of masonry expertise.

The story of JMD Building Restoration begins in the late 1940s, when Stanley R. Dapkus began his masonry career in New York City. His dedication to the trade led him to become a registered steeplejack—specializing in high-elevation masonry work—and eventually brought him to Detroit, where he built a reputation working with respected firms across Michigan and Ohio. His passion for quality workmanship ultimately inspired him to establish his own masonry company.

That commitment to excellence carried through generations. Stanley’s two sons followed in his footsteps, continuing the family tradition of skilled masonry and restoration work.

Today, the legacy lives on through his grandson, Joseph M. Dapkus Jr., founder of JMD Building Restoration. Under Joseph’s leadership, JMD continues to deliver expert masonry restoration services throughout Metro Detroit—combining time-honored techniques with modern solutions to preserve and protect the region’s buildings for generations to come.
